Bio
My name is Luke Owen and I'm President and Principal Consultant of the NPDES Stormwater Training Institute. I love teaching stormwater almost as much reeling in a 12-pound largemouth or hunting caribou with my brother in Alaska. I believe that “hard work, living a life of gratitude and taking responsibility for your own actions” are the keys that open the doors to happiness, a strong vibrant economy, and healthy environment. My passion for making NPDES practical is the force behind my personal commitment to “Training That Helps It All Make Sense!”
BACKGROUND
Luke was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains. After graduating highschool Luke served in the United States Marine Corp and was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant before being Honorably Discharged in 1981. Afterwards, Luke went on to college and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Colorado Mesa University. In a career that spans over 28 years of environmental & water quality consulting, Luke was selected to serve on Georiga's Governor appointed stakeholders board for the 2013 reissuance of the NPDES Construction General Permit. Today, Luke is proud to serve on the National Environmental Steering Committee for the Associated General Contractors of America, and is also an active member of the International Erosion Control Association, Southeast Storm Water Association, and Georgia Association of Water Professionals.
