Overview
The Qualified Compliance Inspector of Stormwater (QCIS) Recert Program is a 9-hour, self-paced online training designed to maintain inspection competency and regulatory awareness for individuals holding an active QCIS or QPSWPPP credential.
QCIS credential holders are required to recert every two (2) years to remain current with evolving construction stormwater compliance expectations under the Utah Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (UPDES).
ThIS recert program consists of five self-paced, interactive online courses, all fully ADA-compliant, and focuses on reinforcing inspection fundamentals while addressing regulatory updates and recurring compliance issues observed in the field.
Program Focus Areas
Course content reinforces and refreshes core inspection competencies, including:
- Erosion and sediment control performance and BMP effectiveness
- Pollution prevention and good housekeeping practices
- Construction site inspection procedures and required documentation
- Common compliance deficiencies and corrective action expectations
- UPDES construction stormwater permit requirements and inspector responsibilities
The curriculum emphasizes practical application and regulator evaluation, helping inspectors maintain consistency, accuracy, and defensibility in their inspection findings.
Upon Successful Completion, Participants Will Be Prepared To:
- Maintain qualification to perform construction stormwater inspections under UPDES
- Apply current inspection and documentation expectations
- Identify recurring compliance issues and appropriate corrective actions
- Support ongoing regulatory compliance and reduce enforcement risk
This program has been reviewed and recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Utah DWQ.
This is program is approved as a Level 300 training by the U.S. Green Building Council.
