Learning Objectives
Operators of stormwater discharges associated with construction activity located in the State of Rhode Island are authorized to discharge according to the conditions and requirements for compliance with the Rhode Island General Laws.
Subject to the terms of this permit, you are authorized to discharge the following: All new and existing stormwater discharges associated with construction, including, but NOT limited to the following: clearing, grading, excavation, and filling.
This includes where:
- Total land disturbance is EQUAL to or GREATER than one (1) acre.
- Construction activities involving soil disturbances of LESS thanone (1) acre
- IF that construction is part of a larger common plan of development or sale that would disturb one (1) acre or MORE; and
- The discharge is composed ENTIRELY of stormwater.


Intended Audience
The audience for this course includes Owners and Operators of construction sites with stormwater discharges associated with construction activities that disturb one (1) or MORE acres of land or LESS than one (1) acre of land if that construction is part of a larger common plan of development or sale that would disturb one (1) or MORE acre, must seek coverage under the Rhode Island Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (RIPDES) General Permit for Stormwater Discharge Associated with Construction Activity ("the RIPDES Construction General Permit (CGP)").
