Kentucky KPDES General Permit Course

Course Description

StormwaterONE’s online course for the Kentucky General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities Under the Kentucky Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (KPDES) will guide you through the 2014 Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection (DEP) mandates.

The General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities provides authorization to discharge from a facility located within any of the 120 counties of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to specific receiving waters. Those water bodies of the Commonwealth that comprise the Mississippi and Ohio River basins and sub-basins within the political and geographic boundaries of Kentucky in accordance with effluent limitations, monitoring requirements and other conditions described in this permit.

This permit applies to stormwater discharges associated with construction activities disturbing individually ONE (1) acre or more, including, in the case of a common plan of development, contiguous construction activities that cumulatively equal ONE (1) acre or more of disturbance.

The Kentucky Division of Water (DOW) is also making this permit available for stormwater discharges from any other construction activity, including those disturbing LESS than ONE (1) acre, designated by DOW based on the potential for contribution to a violation of a water quality standard or for significant contribution of pollutants to waters of the Commonwealth.
