Logs, Wattles, and Filter Socks

Wattles are long, log-shaped sediment control devices that are used as perimeter controls, check dams, and inlet protection. They can be made of straw, wood, coconut, mulch, and/or compost.

Fiber filtration tubes:

Are a wattle-type product that are a composite of wood fibers and man-made fibers.

Different from wattles in one regard: polymers have been added and encased in the tubes.

Flocculate the sediment particles together, settle the sediment behind the dam, and trap it in the tubes.

In short, fiber filtration tubes are designed for flow, filtration, and flocculation.
